UFCW Canada releases Pandemic Bargaining Guide

Pandemics Bargaining Guide-2021Toronto – May 25, 2021 – At the beginning of the pandemic UFCW Canada initiated a project to collect COVID-19 related collective bargaining language.
The objective of this project was to gather and then share language in a guide to assist bargaining committees with the most relevant language in negotiations to protect workers in recent and future pandemics.

The result of this initiative was The Bargaining Guide in Case of Future Pandemics, Current Emergencies or Emerging Hazards.

“Our thanks to everyone who helped develop this language that inspires workers to build a strong voice for their rights,” says Paul Meinema, UFCW Canada National President. “Our gratitude to all the members who stand up everyday to protect and support not only themselves but their families, neighbours and communities.”

The guide outlines best practices taken from collective agreements across Canada and the United States that help protect members in the face of current and emerging workplace threats and hazards.
