COVID-19: B.C. to drop mask mandate Friday for indoor public spaces

B.C. health officials announced Thursday that the province will remove its order requiring masks in all indoor public spaces as of 12:01 a.m. Friday, March 11 2022.

Individual businesses will still be permitted and supported by provincial health to require masks if the owners decide to. A requirement for workplaces to mandate masks will be lifted as well, but there could be certain situations where people are still required to wear a mask.

Face coverings are still mandatory in health care settings and encouraged in high-risk areas where social distancing is not easy.

UFCW 247 is committed to continue advocating for your safety as front line workers and we will continue to monitor potential safety issues with your employer. Our members’ health and safety remains our top priority.

We will be contacting our various employer groups over the next few days to determine what changes the new PHO announcement will have.

Please remember that each of us will be adapting to this change differently, and that it is important to respect the choices of others.
