Montreal – UFCW Canada’s own, President Bea Bruske welcomed over 4,000 delegates from unions across the country to Montreal for the 30^th Constitutional Convention of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).

The Canadian Labour Congress is the largest labour organization in Canada, bringing together dozens of national and international unions to help represent more than 3 million workers across the country. The Convention is normally held every three years and this year’s theme was “Canada’s Unions: Lifting Everyone Up.” Priority issues being discussed include affordability, climate action, the care economy, Indigenous justice and building worker power.

“We will not rest until we bring strong labour laws to every province and use our power to topple any opposition that stands in our way,” declared CLC President Bea Bruske in her first-ever in-person address to open the convention.

UFCW 1006A member Natasha Grey received a standing ovation from the entire delegation for her heroic work throughout the pandemic and for helping raise the bar for grocery workers across Canada with the help of her union.

The UFCW Canada delegation led the way on the convention floor speaking to numerous resolutions and sparking discussions that will help shape Canada’s labour movement for the years to come.

UFCW Canada is proud to endorse the Team Unite slate of Bea Bruske for CLC President, Lily Chang for CLC Secretary-Treasurer, Larry Rousseau and Siobhan Vipond for CLC Executive Vice-Presidents.

The CLC Convention concludes on May 12.
