Toronto – March 3, 2022 – Workers at PetSmart in downtown Toronto are the newest members to join UFCW 1006A after a successful organizing campaign to address dignity and respect on the job.
“Retail workers across the country are demanding better working conditions and voting union yes,” says UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “Our local union is at the forefront of this retail organizing wave and we congratulate PetSmart Toronto workers on this important victory.”
Workers organized to address wages, pandemic-related health and safety, in addition to staffing and other issues. They join a growing movement of retail workers at bookstores, cannabis dispensaries, and more seeking union representation from UFCW Canada.
