Red Deer, Alta. – August 12, 2021 – UFCW 401 members at the Central Alberta Co-op voted 90% in favour of ratifying a new five-year collective agreement with major gains.
The new contract at Central Alberta Co-op comes with singing bonuses of $1,000 for full-time, $500 for part-time and $200 for casual employees in addition to a 2 percent lump sum on prior year’s earnings and a 4.5 percent wage increase over the life of the contract.
“Congratulations to our Central Alberta Co-op members for standing firm and achieving a strong collective agreement,” says UFCW 401 Union Representative Tony Evangelista. “The members stood together throughout these negotiations and without their determination this deal would not have been possible.”
The new contract also converts 12 members from casual to part-time employees which secures them more hours and coverage under the benefits plan.
