“We remember our gains while continuing the work”: UFCW Local 247’s message on Human Rights Day

When the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted in 1948, we understood that the work of ensuring and protecting human rights would be ongoing and sometimes would be difficult. But on this Human Rights Day, we remember the gains we’ve made around the world while recommitting to continuing this critical work whatever the challenges.

UFCW Local 247 reminds workers that we can ensure and protect human rights within the workplace. Human rights violations, after all, constitute grounds for a workplace grievance – and your union can fight for you if this is happening to you.

For more information, please take a look at this important, the “Guide to the BC Human Rights Code and Tribunal”.

This is a thorough resource which will give you some background on the BC Human Rights Code and the BC Human Rights Tribunal; let you know about which forms of human rights complaints are covered by the Code; give you information on how to make a complaint; and let you know about the process after doing so.
