Loblaw members who are eligible to receive dental benefits from the UFCW 247 Benefit Trust Fund will be receiving T4A slips from the Benefit Trust Fund.
New reporting requirements for employers regarding the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
Effective as of January 1, 2024
The CDCP (Canada’s new Federally sponsored dental care program) was enacted on October 1, 2022. Details regarding reporting were then shared in the fall of 2023. The CDCP will provide dental coverage to Canadian citizens who do not have access to coverage through a private dental plan. Benefits vary according to family income. Any person who is eligible for coverage under a private dental plan is not eligible for the CDCP.
For the 2023 taxation year, the government requires employers or plan sponsors to report all private dental coverage on the T4 tax slip (Statement of Remuneration Paid) or T4A tax slip (Statement of Pension, Retirement, Annuity and Other Income). The intention is to assist the Federal Government with determining who may be eligible for the CDCP.
