On August 28th the Union Negotiating Committee that will represent members at the bargaining table with Sobeys will be given a presentation from a Vice-President of Operations for the Company on the financial status of Safeway stores in British Columbia. A similar presentation was given to Local 1518 last year when they met with the Company with the assistance of Special Officer Vince Ready. We have requested an updated version of the presentation so we can see the impact of the various store closures and conversions.

We will have the opportunity to ask questions the following day and we expect to secure further dates to meet and begin the negotiating process. The Union Committee will be meeting earlier in the week to discuss other issues they may wish to raise with the Company at that time.
