UFCW members from both Local 1518 and 247 in six Safeway locations were notified early yesterday that the Company planned to convert their stores to FreshCo, the new discount banner recently introduced in the province. The six stores are all outside of the lower mainland which makes dealing with the conversion even more challenging with movement opportunities limited. The six stores are:

• Powell River 4963
• Dilworth 4902
• Downtown Vernon 4906
• Sahali Kamloops 4933
• William’s Lake 4956
• 100 Mile House 4926

At the in store announcements, members were given a package of information from company officials outlining their buyout and buydown options, in line with the adjustment plan agreement reached in the earlier conversions. The Company is currently operating three FreshCo locations, one in Mission and two in Richmond.
