International Women's Day – March 8
International Women’s Day is celebrated across the globe each year on March 8 after its first occurrence in 1911. This year’s theme is: An equal world is an enabled world.
Gender equality is essential for families, organizations, governments, economies and communities to thrive.
A gender equal world can be healthier, wealthier, and more harmonious. As we are aware, the race is on for the gender equal boardroom, a gender equal government, gender equal media coverage, gender equal workplaces, gender equal sports coverage, more gender equality in health and wealth – so let’s make it happen! Let’s be #EachForEqual.
This year, the UFCW Women’s Network and the UFCW Canada Women & Gender Equity Committee will be participating in the #EachForEqual campaign.
An equal world is a better world. Individually, we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight biases, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate achievements by women.
