International Student members

The Liberal government announced it is lifting the limit on the number of hours international students are allowed to work off-campus each week. Previously this limit was set at 20 hours of paid work each week.

247 International Student members limited to working a maximum of 20 hours were considered to be Restricted Available employees under the Loblaws Agreement.  With this change, International students will now be able to change their availability status to Anytime Available or further expand their Restricted Availability declaration.

247 International Student members at Sobeys limited to working a maximum of 20 hours would be required to fill out a Student Restriction Form.  With this change, Interntional students will now be able to increase your declaration to 28 hours maximum under the Student language.

For all other non Loblaw or Sobeys International Student members, please contact your individual employer to inquire about increasing your work hour availability.  Should you have any questions, please contact your Union Representative for assistance.

This pilot project will run from Nov. 15, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2023 and will allow International students in Canada who are authorized to work off-campus under the terms of their study to work full-time during scheduled breaks.
