Dental Plan Improvement for Loblaws Superstore, Extra Foods, and Distribution Centres
Benefit Trust Fund news update: Good news for UFCW 247 plan members!
The UFCW Local 247 Benefit Trust Fund operates the benefits for UFCW Twenty Four Seven members who work for participating Employers.
The benefits are financed from a Trust Fund into which employer contributions are made. The amount and the timings of those contributions are specified in Collective Agreements between the Union and the Participating Employers. In turn, the records of Contributions are the basis upon which Employees become plan members. The Trust Fund is governed by a joint board of Employer and Union Trustees, who control every aspect of the Trust Fund and the plan.
The Trustees continually review the financial health of the Plan, to determine whether plan changes are needed, or if benefit improvements can be considered.
Based on a recent Plan review, the Trustees are pleased to announce the following benefit improvement:
For all dental claims incurred on or after July 1, 2023, reimbursement will be based on the 2023 British Columbia Dental Fee Guide.
The Trustees continue to closely monitor coverage and claims experience, and reserve the right to make future changes, including benefit reductions, to deliver needed benefits while protecting the financial well-being of the Plan.
Maternity and parental leave credits have also been updated to align with changes to the EI Maternity leave benefits. Members can now combine their maternity and parental leaves to get a maximum of 78 weeks of credits.
