B.C. Wildfires – Resources

As fire crews tirelessly battle wildfires throughout our province, evacuations orders and alerts continue to be triggered in the B.C interior where many of our members live and work.

"These are challenging and uncertain times for many of our members in the areas affected by the wildfires" said President Dan Goodman, adding "we are closely monitoring available resources. Our reps continue to check on members and employers to ensure that, given the extra-ordinary circumstances, appropriate accommodations are followed as the fires evolve. We hope that the forecasted cooler and wetter weather will bring relief in the coming days."

We thank all the emergency crews for their efforts and share these resources with anyone who may be affected by the aggressive fires, especially our members.  We encourage anyone in need to utilize any resources available.

At the same, if you are wondering how you can help those affected and are in a position to do so, the Red Cross and Salvation Army Organizations are accepting donations.

Donate to the Red Cross British Columbia Fires Appeal fund:

The Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia will each match every dollar donated to the Canadian Red Cross 2021 BC Fires appeal. This means that every $1 donated will become $2 to support those affected by the wildfires.

Donations will be used for immediate and ongoing relief efforts, long-term recovery, resiliency, and preparedness for future events in British Columbia and impacted regions, including consequential events related to the fires.
