We have been informed by Loblaw that they have decided to extend the Essential Service Pay Premium program and review it again in mid-May.
Similar to other retailers in the industry, in mid March Loblaw announced a $2 hour premium for employees, retroactive to March 8th.
Many companies have begun paying a “premium” on hours worked as they recognize the stress and uncertainty members face when dealing with the public and providing an essential service. As many of the original announcements called for premiums to be evaluated near the end of April, we hope to have discussions and press employers to extend or even improve the premiums they are paying.
