Ottawa – April 5, 2022 – The Broadbent Institute annual meeting of labour and social justice allies, academics, and progressives from across Canada and around the world returned to an in-person format with the 2022 Progress Summit, held in the nation's capital from March 30 to April 1.
Over the course of three days, participants heard from progressive leaders and policy experts. During panel discussions and breakout sessions, participants focused on building relationships and strategies to achieve a just transition where no one is left behind.
Some of the keynote speakers and panelists at the 2022 Progress Summit included former federal NDP leader Ed Broadbent, journalist David Sirota, Amnesty International Canada Secretary-General Ketty Nivyabandi, and Zexi Li, who is leading the class-action lawsuit against far-right leaders of the so called, ‘Freedom Convoy.’
The Summit also included a two-day workshop led by the Just Transition Team – an eco-justice collaboration led by Blue Green Canada, Climate Action Network Canada, and Environmental Defence Canada. Together, workshop participants brainstormed decarbonized pathways to benefit workers and communities.
