During our last negotiation session held January 11 to 14, the message was made clear to Loblaw that we expected to see a comprehensive monetary offer at our next session.
Based on the feedback from our bargaining committee and the proposal surveys, it has been made abundantly clear that the current wage classifications are not working and that there is a high level of dissatisfaction from the membership.
It is our position to the Employer committee that merging these scales is at the top of our priority.
As stated during our last telephone town hall held February 17th 2022 by Secretary Treasurer Charles Pratt, during the question/answer portion: “this is a particularly challenging set of negotiations as we are not simply adding money to existing scales, but we are looking to completely revamp the scales and classifications”.
While we are cautiously optimistic that the Company will act on our message and will table a comprehensive monetary offer, it remains to be seen whether this offer will be viewed as a stepping stone to a complete memorandum of agreement.
