Calgary – April 7, 2022 – UFCW 401 members at Alberta Distillers Ltd. proved their resolve by securing major improvements in a newly ratified contract, after rejecting previous offers from the company.
“We would like to recognize the hard work of negotiating committee members who showed strength and solidarity throughout this process,” says UFCW 401 Negotiator Devin Yeager. “Their combined efforts made the difference, helping us to reach the best possible settlement under given circumstances.”
The new contract will see wages increase by 10 percent over the life of the four-year collective agreement, in addition to improved health and safety protections and language that addresses discrimination, harassment, and workplace violence.
Members at the award-winning distillery will also see increases to shift premiums, pension allotments, and for the first time, contributions towards the local union’s Education and Training Fund.
