Industry Snapshot: Price advantage gives chicken market competitive edge

Prices for wing cuts are forecasted to go down 5 percent, with demand staying strong over the year. Grocers have been happy to showcase chicken products on the front of flyers given the above average returns generated for retailers.

The market remains tight on margins, as logistical problems plague all industries with truck and transport costs creating uncertainty. Offsetting these logistical concerns are the readily available stockpiles from intermittent lockdowns, which have been sustaining inventory levels in food service.
